This would eliminate Casual Friday problems

Many popular U.S. TV reality shows got started in Europe. Here’s one reality show, based in the workplace, that we hope doesn’t make the trip across the Atlantic.

The British show, still in development, is called Naked Office.

Yep, it’s your worst fear: The show asks employees to show up for work nude for one day.

The hunt for companies willing to participate is still going on (we can only hope they won’t find enough takers).

Office employees (gee, nothing in manufacturing or retail?) will be interviewed to gauge their thoughts about nudity (at home, OK; at the office, NO WAY).

Then, some employees will participate in art classes with unclothed models to help them get used to public nudity.

The last step in the BBC show: Employees participate in a “Naked Friday.”

The purpose of the program is to analyze attitudes toward nudity including the role of clothing in office hierarchy.

The show’s producers promise the day wold be “very productive … as well as a day to remember.” (Yeah, we’d be a lot less likely to leave our cubicles.)

    This is sooo ridiculous!

  2. Jerry Vierra Says:

The naked truth is, I can’t bare the thought of this.

  3. Lisa Says:

I can barely stand to look at some of my co-workers crusty toes in the summer, let alone their entire bodies!

  4. R. B. Says:

Why would anyone want to promote this? Good god, what’s next? Never mind…don’t tell me…I don’t want to know.

  5. Tim Says:

IMHO; there is a time and a place for everything. Nudity and work don’t mix. Plus off; you’re looking at the possibility of encouraging a work place that is harassing or even uncomfortable! A locker room is one thing; but throw in the cubicle (or the opposite sex) and it isn’t a good thing! I only pray that it never comes over this way!!

    Jerry Vierra – LOL!!!

Lisa – Amen, there are plenty of people I can work with just fine but would NEVER want to see even partially undressed, let alone completely nude.

R.B. – Amen to that as well. Big time!

Tim – I agree with you as well!!! Especially in that, who would be comfortable (save for maybe a few jokers) working NUDE around all your fellow coworkers and who would be comfortable working WITH someone who was completely nude?

Seriously, I used to work in an office full of men, most of which were a good deal older than me (my dad’s age). One of which liked me but also liked to hit on about half of all the women (though few) in the office. So when I think of this story, I think of that guy. If he were going to come to work naked, I think I’d call in sick. Or leave as soon as I found out. Likewise, if I were in the office and a female co-workers was going to show up nude (again, in an office full of men), I wouldn’t be comfortable with that either, and I’m sure many of the men would be very distracted – depending on which of the women it was!
