A day care worker in Texas has been charged with injury to a child after accusations she bit a 17-month-old child to discipline him.

Police charged Bonita Stout with the third-degree felony. She was released on $25,000 bond.

Officers responded to a call at the Apple Tree Academy in Henderson County. A mother reported her child had a human bite mark on his arm, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The boy’s mother says Stout admitted biting the child because he had bitten other children.

Stout was fired.

The recommended practice to stop children between the ages of 1 and 3 from biting: Say “no” in a firm voice while firmly holding the child.
