A police officer in Daytona Beach, FL, didn’t just want free coffee on the job. He wanted Starbucks coffee — at Starbucks.
Lt. Major Garvin, a 15-year veteran, demanded free coffee and tea from a Starbucks and threatened employees with slower emergency response times if they refused, according to an internal affairs report obtained by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Garvin was fired July 8.
The police chief says Garvin failed a polygraph test that he insisted on taking.
The Starbucks employees claim Garvin has been making the demands since June 2007.
They say he visited the store as many as six times a night and besides demanding free drinks would cut in front of paying customers.
