More evidence the Internet has really changed everything in the work world: Strippers blame the Web for losing jobs.
When one door closes, another opens.
Case in point: Strippers in Toronto are blaming the Internet for losing jobs (door closes).
But now you have a new pool of job applicants (door opens)!
Before we tell you why you should hire a former stripper, here’s a bit of background on the whole stripper-Internet thing.
The Toronto Star reports 10 strip clubs in the city have closed in the last five years, and the number of licensed burlesque dancers has dropped by more than half.
A 23-year-old dancer, Madeline, provided the explanation: “Why would a guy go to a club and pay to sit there if he could get it all for free on his computer at home?”
Why, indeed.
Madeline has found gainful employment as a bartender. But what’s happened to the other 1,600 former strippers?
Do we hear a door opening?
So, why should you hire a former stripper? Here are some reasons:
- They’re good with customer service.
- They’re used to handling and counting money (all those dollar bills!).
- They understand the concept, “pay for performance.”
