As someone in HR, you can appreciate an adult who wants to further their employment possibilities by going back to school to get a high school equivalency diploma. But this 33-year-old woman took that a step too far.

Wendy Brown of Green Bay, Wisconsin, is charged with stealing her 15-year-old daughter’s identity, returning to high school and signing up for the cheerleading squad.

She faces a felony identity theft charge after enrolling in a local high school as her daughter, who lives in Nevada with Brown’s mother. If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Brown reportedly told authorities she wanted to get her high school degree and be a cheerleader because she was trying to regain part of her childhood.

A high school employee said Brown looked older than a high school student, but her demeanor matched that of a teen.

To make matters worse, a $134.50 check Brown wrote to cover the cost of her cheerleading uniform bounced.
