Foil co-workers with sticky fingers

Have you ever had to deal with complaints of lunches stolen out of your company’s kitchen refrigerator? Check out this new product to stop lunch thieves in their tracks.
It’s the Anti-Theft Lunch Bag from designer Sherwood Forlee.
They’re regular sandwich bags with green splotches printed on both sides. Anything that’s placed in the bag looks like it’s moldy.
Do the bags really make the food look like it’s grown mold? Decide for yourself here.
Now, the question is whether you will want to eat your lunch after storing it in the bag.

During a company-wide meeting we addressed the problem of lunches being stolen by half-jokingly telling everyone to lick all the items in their lunch and thus forewarning whoever was stealing the lunches that they were eating items their co-workers had licked. It worked (and everyone got a laugh out of it to).

At my office, we have our refrigerator cleaned out every other week. Along with that is a specific rule that says if it doesn’t have a name on it, it’s being pitched. And, even if it DOES have a name on it, but it’s obviously expired/unsavory (i.e., MOLDY), it’s being tossed too. So, this humourous and seemingly effective bag would backfire here. But, our “fridge” procedures do detour theft as well - at least as far as we can tell now. Check out the picture - at least on the computer, it looks pretty real!

While lunches are somewhat vulnerable, we’ve had even bigger problems with people using salad dressing and milk that didn’t belong to them. At one point I labeled mine ‘breast milk,’ and people left it alone. Another option is putting things in unexpected containers, e.g., salad dressing in a Mountain Dew bottle. I’ve also back-dated items to frighten people off. Our refrigerator is only cleaned once a week, so this technique works well for the other 4 days.
