I personally know several people, two of which are phds, who smoke crack on a regular basis and are very happy and productive people. But I guess that means they're really addicts in denial? I can't believe that her performance hasn't been questioned in the past; let's face it, 10 years of cocaine use will take a toll on your performance such as attendance, work performance, personal days off, etc. Was a reasonable suspicion drug test considered by her supervisor? Maybe wall-to-wall testing should be done starting with upper management and going all the way to the last new hire?!
