What do HR and hiring managers do in their spare time? Why, they create Web sites that make fun of job applicants’ blunders, that’s what they do!

Ever compare the worst cover letters, resume or interviews you’ve even seen with other HR pros?

Now if you want a good laugh (besides checking out HR Blunders, of course) about well meaning applicants who write or talk themselves right out of a job, you can check out nothired.com.

Here’s an example under the category, “cover letters” (misspellings and run-on sentences not corrected): I could probably do your job with enough time and I would probably be able to do it better, we can both be honest here and say that you know its true. I know my way around a computer and surprise I can do work while ****ing around on the internet and talking to my girlfriend on the phone.”

Well, that is impressive! We won’t bother calling you, because we’d most likely face such tough competition to hire you.

Or this cover letter: “I can keep my mouth shut if needed and don’t mind most jobs with legitimacy issues but there are certain requests I may not be able to fulfill. I.E. Don’t ask me to kill somebody.”

Don’t worry. We certainly won’t be calling on you for that skill. In fact, we won’t be calling on at all.

Nothired.com explains itself as “a group of HR monkeys and hiring managers … in our jobs, we see thousands of cover letters and resumes every month. Some of them desperately need to be shared.”

But, shared only on the Internet, like this one from a person’s objectives: “Everyday I am looking to improve upon my life. It has not proven to be that profitable for me.”

And most likely, will continue not to be.
