A list no employee wants to be on

Certainly you don’t have any employees who you’d consider overpaid. But Forbes magazine has released its second annual list of the most overpaid celebrities in Hollywood.

No. 1 on the list is Nicole Kidman. Her films were estimated to just break even on the amount she was paid — they make only $1 for every dollar of her salary.

Second in line is Jennifer Garner, whose movies return only $3.60 for every dollar invested in her acting services.

Kidman’s ex-husband Tom Cruise is third with a $4 return. However, his recent appearance as a sleazy Hollywood producer in the Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder may help him move off the list this year.

The rankings were compiled by looking at a star’s last three movies and dividing their total earnings by the films’ gross income to get the actor’s payback amount.

How would your employees like to be ranked this way?

I have always thought that ALL actors and actresses were overpaid. It is a sad reflection on our country that we value entertainment above education, health care, etc. If we paid teachers and people in the medical profession half what an actress, rap artist, or other so called “star” makes, perhaps our economy would be in a bit better shape today. We really should invest in what brings us the the best future returns on our dollars.
